Beschrijving
Etching of the Lammert Warndersteeg in Harlingen, with low façades on either side and the church tower closing the view — signed in pencil and numbered 22/100. The sheet belongs to Rensburg’s topographical series of town views beyond the Randstad.
The Frisian seaport fitted his working method: recorded on site, street by street, almost always with a tower or a landmark building as its point of recognition. It is the method that made his name as a chronicler of the old townscape — ‘a handy town draughtsman’, as tradition has it.
Provenance: documented via zuijderwal.nl — gallery documentation.
